More Snaps of England

The Splendid Yorkshire Moors

This past April I, Marilyn, enjoyed a great holiday visiting friends in England.  Lillie, Andy, my neighbor Molly, and I explored so many fascinating places in the North Yorkshire Moors, we all needed a vacation after our vacation.  We stayed in a cottage on a horse farm near the village of Liverton and used it as a base for travel to the North Sea, the City of York, and everything inbetween.  Here's a few of Lillie's amazing snaps of the places we visited.  Enjoy

The crypt of St. Cedd inside St. Mary's Church in Lastingham was an inspiration, a wonderful place for prayer and contemplation.

We strolled the harbor at Whitby located on the North Sea. You can just see Whitby Abbey, which is an absolute must see, on the right of the picture, high up on the headland.

What a beautiful side chapel at Yorkminster in York. The entire cathedral was such a grand experience in size and awe.

Our ride on the North Yorkshire Moors Steam Train was a hoot. I felt like I was in a Miss Marple novel. And the view of the dale it travels through was a picture of rural Yorkshire life.

Love this architecture of the interior in Bolsover Castle. The intricate design adds so much texture to the 1700's edifice.

We did a pub lunch nearly everyday we were out and about. This is one of the many pubs we enjoyed. I don't care what anyone says, for the most part, pub grub is excellent food.
